June 21st is National Go Skateboarding Day. In celebration, we here in Natick (and all Eastern Boarder locations) will be giving limited EB X GSD t-shirts to the first 20 skaters that stop by the shop. No purchase is necessary. Come to hang out, watch some of your favorite skate videos, and go skate.
We're also offering 20% off on all skate decks.
Some of the Natick EB crew and groms will be heading down to Chinatown for some skate sessions, and weather permitting, we'll be firing up that sweet charcoal grill.
Our griptape shank went missing, so we made another.
If you want to see a twisted show that had a lot of "shanking," check this out. I'd rate this "mature" or "rated R" for graphic violence, adult content, and multiple shankings.
I wasn't around a computer yesterday so I missed the nostalgic note, not that anyone really cares about this, but I'm keeping it going regardless. Here you go, one annoying song that you'll end up singing to by the end...
It is no secret that we get a lot of sneaker customers in here, especially those after the ever-popular Nike SBs. So it is time that attention is paid to the 2006 documentary "Just For Kicks" which chronicles the entire culture that revolves around footwear. Learn about how it all started with basketball and hip hop and how it evolved into a crazy world all its own. The film covers nike but also mentions other street labels like adidas, puma, and converse. Interviews and appearances from Run DMC, Damon Dash, Bobbito Garcia, Futura, Haze and an endless list of others including one funny "street cat" named Bonz Malone. You can watch the whole thing on YouTube split up into eight 10-minute segments... or buy it.
If you want a more in-depth synopsis and more information about the film visit the official site: http://justforkicksmovie.com/
Game of Skate was a success today. It was hot as balls outside. Check back soon for who won and some photos of the event. Thanks to everyone for braving the heat.
Game 1 tonight at 8:30pm EST. If you're not into basketball, skating, or lurking, I caught the highlights of this yesterday...and they're not wearing any pads.
It's really wet out today, so I guess the water made me think about surfing. Then I came across this gem on the internet, just so happens the event is going on tonight. I guess bikinis and good parties make surfing ok...
