Rad Skatepark
Literally... thats the name... and it does look rad.
Some good dudes, John Romiglio and Bob Bradford, are opening "Rad Skatepark" in Mendon and it looks fucking awesome.
Ramps are being built right now and the place is said to be opening June 1st.
Here are pics from some guy named Future Breed on flickr:
Address is 49 Uxbridge Road in Mendon... only about 30 mins from the shop.
Hype it up!

Get there while you can!
I just went up to Mount Snow sunday and it was sickkk!! They still have a ton of stuff up in Carinthia, since the last time I was there in February they have only taken down a few smaller features. The snow is going fast however and with rain in the forecast for much of this week it is not looking good. They will be closed 'til thursday. If you get a chance make the trip up to West Dover even if it is going to rain, because you always have more fun riding in the rain than you think you would. Just remember to bring a poncho. It does appear that for most mountains this weekend is closing day which is basically the equivalent of the first day of school after summer. So grab those skateboards and get ready to regret any day you decided to sleep in or "didn't feel like it," you have all summer and fall to think about your mistakes and learn to never let a day on the snow go to waste. For those of you who are able to go to a summer camp the fun isn't over yet! There are basically 3 to choose from... Windell's, High Cascade, and Camp of Champions. They are all good (its riding in the summer, anythings good really), but from what i've heard High Cascade is worth the little bit extra over Windell's and if you're really ballin' out go for C.O.C., it is easily the biggest and best summer camp. It is also the most expensive with the total cost for the camp coming out to just over $2,000 and you have to pay for a plane ticket to B.C. Check out the two videos below, one is a hot lap at C.O.C. and the other is the full version of the Airblaster video "August," which chronicles the journeys of the Airblaster team in the month of august at Mt. Hood in Oregon, the same home for High Cascade and Windell's (everything they ride is at High Cascade).

Coolest companies in snowboarding.
The idea of "cool" greatly differs from person to person, seeing as how this is the internet and it is basically for voicing one's own opinion, I am going to do just that. Here are a few companies that I think are Rad. If you're not into them that's ok, but it'd be a lot cooler if you were.
First is not so much a company, but a crew for a video next year. For those of you who have been living under a rock, some of the dudes from kidsnow productions (Burning Bridges, Love Hate) have started a new film company by the name of Videograss. I loved the kidsnow movies, some of my all time favorites for sure, and the crew they have this year is setting it up to be even better than it's predecessors. I don't know the full line up yet, but here's who I know is definitely in... Darrel Mathis, Nick Dirks, LNP, Jonas Michilot, Ben Biloq, Justin Bennee, and the legend himself Mikey LeBlanc. As you can see by that list its going to be awesome. Check out their blog.
Ashbury: Jake Olson-Elm Guest Edit from Ashbury Eyewear on Vimeo.
Two companies that are tied in with the video that i think everyone should support are Ashbury eyewear and Holden outerwear. Both of these companies are rider owned and operated and make a damn good product that looks sick. This year was the first year of production for Ashbury and from the amount of people I see wearing them, it appears to have been a successful one. Steering clear of the more flamboyant colors and shapes Ashbury focuses on the "less is more" look with a very low profile basic goggle that does exactly what its supposed to do, and looks good while doing it. They have also compiled one of the youngest and most talented teams around. Holden has been on the forefront of modern shred style for years and have most recently made close to 90% of their products "ECO friendly" by using recycled materials. If you're looking to make a bold, bright statement while riding stick to Special Blend, but if you want a more subtle and classy look, definitely check these guys out. Be sure to check out both the Ashbury and Holden sites for some entertainment and while you're there check out the product lines, you won't be disappointed.
THE AIRBLASTER MOVIE (NORTH CAROLINA) from Jacob Sutton on Vimeo.
The next company I'm going to talk about is owned by my favorite snowboarder ever, Travis Parker, the company i'm referring to is of course Airblaster. The main reason I like this company so much is their approach to snowboarding, they realize the reason anyone should snowboard is because its fun. They don't take themselves to serious, and in my opinon many snowboarders need to start doing the same. They have put out some of the most entertaining videos to come out in years, such cinematographic wonders as "December," "April," and "August..." all very entertaining to say the least. Next year however they are going to be putting out there first full length(?) feature film entitled "North Carolina," the teaser is above, definitely check it out. The Airblaster blog is always entertaining as well.
ROME SDS - No correct Way from Dominic Krötz on Vimeo.
Last but not least are our fellow New Englander's, the good people at Rome Snowboards. Rome is operated by some of the coolest people in the industry as far as I'm concerned and anyone who's been to a Rome event can definitely testify to their ability to party. Not only do they throw one hell of a party, they also make a damn good snowboard. I've rode Rome's boards for the past 3 out of 4 years and I really could not be happier with their performance. In fact I rode their boots last year and they are easily the best fitting and longest lasting boot i've ever owned, so much so i got the exact same pair again this year. The one thing I think that sets them apart from everyone else the most, is that they have a full 2 year warranty on all their hardgoods which not many other companies offer. Check out Rome's website.

So even though Last Call was over a week ago, I keep coming upon new awesome pictures! Here's a few of our friends...
Theodore Preston Lavoie pressing the shit out of the top of the "bat wing."
EB team dude and one of New Hampshire's best Mr. Chris Carr killing it as always.
This is Stu, he's part of the buck 90 crew, he kills it, look for him the next time you're at Mount Snow.
I got all of these from the Snowboard Revolution site. If you haven't checked it out before, get on it, the site rules.
